Coach, Why do you pay $1000 for a purse?

Ok, I know a lot of you are guys, but seriously don't you want to hit your girlfriend when she tells you she wants you to buy her this ugly "gold\mushroom" $1000 purse?

First of all, why does it cost $1000? Is it made of gold? Does it include 1 year of unlimited lap dances at your favorite strip club? is it made of camel's hair?

Guys and girls, is not that I am a cheap bastard and I dont love my wife, but this ugly purse will do the same job as a $15 one from Wal-Mart.

Also, at least 50%-70% of the girls I know that own a designer purse, THE PURSE IS AN ILLEGAL DUPLICATE OR NOT ORIGINAL!!! The other 50-30% don't know if their purse is fake, they just got it from someone at a very cheap price (probably fake). But all of them still say they got it at the mall for + $400!

    Don't worry, I feel you. I've always kind of wondered this myself, but it simply boils down to the name. If you're "known" and "respected" then you can charge whatever you want and those with money will buy it. It's kind of sad really. :/

    There are people paying much more for much less there outside... If its a highquality material, and makes the buyer happy, I dont see any problem at all. Of course, you MUST HAVE the money if you intend to buy this kind of stuff. If buying it means you're going to starve at the end of the month, then you're crazy for doing so.

    Thoughtful post. In NYC there are fake bags everywhere. They're more of a status symbol than anything else. If you do spend 1K on a purse, then you're a fool.

    It's madness. I don't understand spending so much more to get the same thing $10 will get you.
    I've been using the wallet my brother gave me for probably 5-6 years, and it does a fine job. Don't need a $1,000 wallet. After I buy it, I probably won't even have any money to store in it.

    i completely agree with your. its so sad how most ppl are so superficial! we consume and consume to try and fill that whole that makes us happy. its really hard to reason with your gf though thats what sucks

    Lol, the problem is that the overpricing of the "good" brand don't exist only on purses (if it was only purses it wouldn't affect me xD).
